Job summary

NES Fircroft seeks an experienced Environmental Health, Safety and Security Manager to lead the EHS department in Lemont, IL. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, policy development, training, and incident management to promote operational excellence across EHS&S functions.

Responsibilities include coordinating with agencies, implementing policies, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field.
• Expertise in air quality, water management, and waste regulations at state and federal levels (EPA).
• Familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard security regulations for marine terminals.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• TWIC or ability to obtain it.
• DOT or Hazwoper (Class K) certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain and enforce EHS&S policies and procedures.

• Identify, analyze and control occupational hazards using EHS&S expertise.
• Assist in incident management including root cause analyses and corrective actions.
• Lead training related to environmental, health/safety, security and compliance.
• Recommend modifications to equipment/procedures to achieve EHS goals.
• Promote safety of facilities, employees, customers and the public.
• Support operations and engineering functions as needed.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and local authorities.
• Leverage Intelex and other EHS management systems for compliance.
• Direct accountability for overall EHS regulatory compliance.

Our client is actively seeking an experienced Environmental Health, Safety and Security manager to join their team out of Lemont, IL! This individual will be responsible for directing and managing the EHS department, ensuring compliance with the general monitoring, record keeping, and reporting requirements required by federal, state, local and internal environmental HSE rules and regulations. The EHS&S Manager is responsible for directing and managing the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security Department. This position must ensure compliance with the general monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements required by federal, state, and local environmental, health, safety, and security rules and regulations, as well as internal requirements. This role shall be performed in a way that promotes operational excellence with respect to EHS&S compliance and culture.

Responsibilities

1. 1. Manage and coordinate compliance with all applicable environmental, health, safety, and security regulations for local, state, and federal agencies. Tasks may include, but are not limited to compliance monitoring/sampling, recordkeeping, reporting, field inspections, and the development of other submissions to agencies.
2. 2. Develop, implement, maintain and enforce EHS&S regulatory and company policies and procedures.
3. 3. Maintain an understanding and knowledge of current federal, state, local, and company regulations and policies (EPA, NFPA, ASTM, API, PHMSA, DOT, USCG, USACE, etc.).
4. 4. Assist in identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of professional EHS&S knowledge, skill and abilities.
5. 5. Assist in incident management, including performing root cause analyses, developing and tracking corrective actions, and implementing preventative measures to eliminate accidents.
6. 6. Perform and execute training related to environmental, health/safety, security and compliance training.
7. 7. Review and recommend modifications and changes in equipment or procedures to achieve environmental or health/safety goals.
8. 8. Must understand and help enhance the safety of our facilities, employees, customers and the public.
9. 9. Support the operations and engineering functions of the business as warranted/assigned.
10. 10. Liaise with regulatory agencies, local governmental authorities, and local community organizations.
11. 11. Leverage Intelex and other electronic EHS&S management systems to ensure robust regulatory compliance.
12. 12. Directly accountable for overall EHS&S regulatory compliance.

Requirements and Qualifications Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or other related science field.
• Demonstrated expertise in air quality, water management, and waste regulations at both state and federal (EPA) levels.
• Familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard security regulations related to marine terminal operations.
• Valid Driver’s License
• TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) or ability to obtain.
• Proper certifications for DOT, or Hazwoper, Class K, as deemed necessary.

Hours of Work

• This position requires the ability to always respond and be available for contact.
• Typical hours are Monday through Friday 7:00-3:30 PM
• This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
• Occasional travel may be necessary up to 25%, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
