Job summary

Pima County seeks an Environmental Health Manager to lead the department’s response to environmental public health challenges, directing strategic planning, program development, and cross‑sector collaboration for resilient, equitable health systems.

The role partners with community organizations, academia, and regulatory agencies to mitigate risks from heat, air and water quality, emissions, and exposures, advancing environmental justice countywide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, public or business administration or a related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.
• Four years of related experience managing public health programs, clinics and/or community-based initiatives including two years of direct supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides strategic leadership in the design, development, and execution of public health programs and initiatives.
• Leads cross-functional teams in planning and executing public health programs, ensuring they are on time and within budget.
• Identifies and secures grant funding to support program sustainability and expansion.
• Engages with community partners to gather input and build support for program initiatives.
