Job summary

State of Florida in Venice, FL is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to conduct inspections of regulated facilities and ensure compliance with Florida statutes and FAC rules. This on-site role focuses on OSTDS and environmental health programs across Sarasota County, with occasional travel to the North County office as workload requires.

The position requires a BS in environmental health or related field, two years of experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in environmental health or related field with at least 30 science credits and math/statistics.
• At least two years of experience in environmental health.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect regulated facilities for compliance with Florida statutes and FAC.
• Conduct OSTDS site evaluations and review construction permits.
• Provide field support across EH programs and initiate enforcement as needed.
• Prepare activity reports and respond to inquiries.
