Job description

Environmental Specialist II in the Florida Department of Health's Environmental Public Health program conducts regulatory environmental health and safety inspections, investigates complaints, and enforces compliance with state and local laws. The role includes inspecting schools, food service operations, assisted living facilities, and other regulated facilities; investigating foodborne illness and sanitary nuisance complaints; and making recommendations on permits and licenses. Work is performed under supervision of an Environmental Manager and requires independent judgment, technical expertise, and the ability to document findings clearly and testify at hearings.
