Job summary

Pinal County in Arizona seeks an Environmental Health Inspector to enforce environmental regulations, inspect septic systems, waste hauling operations, and ensure compliance under supervision.

This position requires an Associate degree, two years of related experience, relevant licenses, and ability to navigate permit processes. Pre-employment screening applies; generous benefits and retirement plans are offered by the county.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Environmental Health or related field.
• Two years of experience in monitoring, inspecting, and enforcing environmental health issues.
• Arizona residents must have an Arizona Driver’s License upon hire; newly established Arizona Residents must have one within 30 days of hire.
• _valid registration as Arizona Sanitarian, Soils and Site Investigation Certification, and/or National Association of Waste Transporters Certification._
• Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Enforce environmental regulations and inspect environmental health issues and complaints.
• Inspect onsite septic systems, nuisance, trash, manure, and failing systems for compliance with rules.
• Accept permit applications, assist the public, enter data, and guide submittals through the process.
• Inspect solid and liquid waste hauling trucks as required by guidelines.
• Maintain records and prepare routine compliance and enforcement reports.
