Job summary

The Florida Department of Health is seeking an OPS Senior Clerk in Viera, FL to support environmental health permit applications, renewals, inspections scheduling, data entry, and payments.

The role requires proficiency with computers, filing, and electronic databases, plus strong customer service skills for inquiries via phone, email, or walk-ins. Ability to work flexible hours in emergencies is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures; ability to use a personal computer and general office equipment; knowledge of basic filing practices; ability to maintain electronic databases.
• Must be proficient in computers and other computer programs; able to handle data entry and filing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Assists clients with Environmental Health permit applications and operating permit renewals for septic systems.
• Reviews all permit applications/forms for completeness and accuracy.
• Assists clients with scheduling inspections of septic tank systems.
• Researches records and traces documents.
• Maintains internal database and filing system.
• Accepts and processes fees for Environmental Health permits and services.
• Provides receipts to customers.
• Completes data entry for applications and fees collected.
• Assist clients via multi-line phone answering, email, and office walk-ins regarding Environmental Health programs.
• Accepts and processes Sanitary Nuisance complaints.
