RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct environmental audits and assessments to evaluate a business’s compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals used in the facility.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of hazardous materials.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure the correct use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Provide training to employees on PPE requirements and safety procedures.
  • Monitor workplace conditions to identify potential safety hazards.
  • Perform routine environmental monitoring to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of environmental reports as required.
  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainability.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on safety procedures, hazardous materials handling, and emergency response.
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
  • Stay informed about changes in EHS regulations and ensure the facility's compliance.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports and documentation.
  • Prepare and submit required information to the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS), including hazardous materials business plans, site maps, and chemical inventories.
  • Ensure that all CERS submissions are accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain an annotated site map that meets the requirements of California Health and Safety Code Chapter 6.95, Section 25505(a)(2).
  • This position will be responsible for providing leadership and supporting the development and implementation of environmental, health and safety compliance programs for the plant.
  • Ensure plant employees are properly trained on all company EHS procedures and policies.
  • Record keeping for EHS regulatory compliance.
  • Familiar with EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Familiarity with DART (Days Away, Restricted or Transferred) and reporting.
  • Familiarity with net zero emission and corresponding requirements.
  • Knowledge of California environmental and Cal/OSHA regulations strongly preferred.


EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years experienced
  • Fluent as Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA)

This position will be 100% onsite. The expected based salary range for this position, if filled in California, is $115,000-$130,000 annually, dependent on specific skills and work experience.
