Job summary

Linde Advanced Material Technologies Inc. in Indianapolis, IN, is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to lead EHS programs on the plant floor, conducting audits and training across shifts.

You will manage incident investigations, risk assessments, and contractor safety while ensuring OSHA compliance and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets. This is an on-site role in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, Safety Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing, construction, chemical processing, powder handling, or similar environments.
  • Minimum of three years’ related experience in a manufacturing or industrial facility.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, industrial safety requirements, contractor management, permit-to-work, confined space, lockout/tagout, and hazard communication.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel (data analysis, pivot tables, macros).

Responsibilities

  • Lead EHS team; conduct monthly training, audits, and meetings to promote awareness and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate workplace incidents using root-cause analysis to identify underlying causes and implement corrective measures.
  • Injury and illness case management and participation in return-to-work processes.
  • Evaluate and monitor employee and contractor compliance with safety regulations.
  • Perform risk assessments of ergonomics, equipment, process safety to identify hazards.
  • Create and maintain waste profiles and manifests for all site waste streams.
  • Design and implement safety programs, training classes, SOPs, and policies.
  • Conduct regular production-floor audits and inspections to assess safety initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver training on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety through behavioral-based programs.
  • Lead maintenance of the plant Safety Data Sheet records database.

What you will enjoy doing*
  • You will serve as one of the Lead EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) team members by conducting monthly training sessions, audits, and meetings to promote awareness and continuous improvement in all aspects of the EHS programs
  • You will investigate workplace incidents using root-cause analysis (RCA) tools to identify underlying causes and implement robust corrective and preventive measures. Share lessons-learned across the business
  • You have deep knowledge, understanding and level of involvement in injury and illness case management and will participate in the return-to-work process as well as the RCA of such events
  • You will evaluate and monitor plant employees as well as all on-site contractors’ compliance with company safety regulations
  • Perform risk assessments of workplace ergonomics, equipment, process safety, and operational processes to identify and mitigate potential hazards to personnel, facilities, and the environment
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining waste profiles and manifests for shipping all site waste streams, including hazardous waste materials
  • Design and implement safety programs, including training classes, standard operating procedures, and policies that support 24/7 production operations
  • You will enjoy working on the production floor by performing regular audits and inspections to assess the effectiveness of safety initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement
  • You have proven capability of developing and delivering training programs to educate employees on safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • You have experience with promoting a culture of safety through behavioral based safety programs and techniques
  • In addition, you will lead the efforts in maintaining and upkeep of the plant Safety Data Sheet records database

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent certifications are preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience in time management and multi-tasking/prioritizing skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., data analysis, pivot tables, macros)
  • Required to work on-site in a manufacturing environment. This is not a remote or hybrid opportunity
