Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for the company during EHS-related onsite inspections or audits by government agencies.
- Promote a positive safety culture with support from all employees.
- Administer risk management activities to minimize costs to the organization.
- Develop and implement programs to support an accident and injury-free work environment, including setting key safety metrics and goals.
- Maintain a comprehensive safety manual with Standard Operating Procedures for all company facilities.
- Organize and conduct regular safety committee meetings.
- Ensure regular facility inspections and equipment audits are conducted, with action plans developed.
- Train managers in root cause analysis and countermeasure methodologies, and assist with accident and injury investigations.
- Regularly review OSHA logs, accident registers, and CSA scores to identify opportunities for safety performance improvement.
- Develop and administer a best practice heavy equipment operator training program.
- Conduct and document regularly scheduled environmental compliance inspections.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party administrators regarding site plans and permit applications.
- Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive driver education program.
- Ensure compliance in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fleet maintenance and fill station operations.
- File annual compliance reports, including OSHA 300 and Captive audit reports.
- Manage and coordinate all workers' compensation and accident claims with the insurance carrier.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in a related field.
- OSHA 10-hour card.
- 5 or more years in a safety role with a major organization.
- Extensive knowledge of the safety industry, OSHA, FMCSA, and environmental compliance (EPA).
- Knowledge of adult learning principles.
- Effective communication skills, including oral, written, technological, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical skills to evaluate areas of risk and develop corrective actions.
- Ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Public speaking skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Advanced organizational skills.
