National Carwash Solutions is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator for our Grimes, IA manufacturing site. You will drive environmental, health, and safety programs in collaboration with local production management and a Corporate Safety team to improve outcomes.

You’ll implement audits, manage records, train staff, and coordinate incident investigations while supporting continuous EHS improvements across facilities in the US and Canada.

Job Summary:

As an Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator, you will report to the Director of Safety & Compliance regarding associated job tasks, and are responsible for administering the respective entity’s environmental, health, and safety programs and driving improved results. You will have the primary responsibility for manufacturing & distribution EHS compliance and work closely with local production management. Successful candidates will be responsible for both strategic and tactical elements of the company environmental, health, and safety program as outlined below.

Job Duties:

  • Champion regulatory compliance policy and program implementation
  • Collaborate with local management and Corporate Safety to develop programs to reduce incidents and drive culture of safe behavior

Safety:

  • Conduct basic investigations. Coordinate with Corporate Safety with higher level issues
  • Oversees and drives employee safety compliance from local level
  • Maintains liaison with outside organizations, such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams to assure information exchange and mutual assistance
  • Responsible for communicating records, tracking, and reporting related to EHS KPIs.
  • Responsible for implementing EHS audits/inspections as well as the requirements for conducting, tracking, and reporting
  • Responsible for coordinating online and/or in-person EHS training. This will include training for both line-level employees as well as local leaders
  • Chairperson of the local safety committee that will meet monthly to review incidents, near misses, and other safety metrics and reports.
  • Routinely meets with Director of Safety & Compliance to discuss/review objectives, strategies, and plans associated with safety improvements, safety issues, and safety results
  • Assist with other manufacturing facilities safety programs when necessary
  • Identify chemical inventory on-site and compare level to regulated action levels
  • Ensure appropriate disposition of all waste material
  • Establish and maintain required Environmental recordkeeping and reporting processes
  • Establish and manage waste minimization and emergency response planning
  • Respond to upset conditions and advise team members on corrective actions
  • Function as point of contact for chemical inventory and waste management processes
  • Develop and implement Environmental management systems for any applicable plant activities
  • Implement required Environmental training programs
  • Responsible for facility Environmental permitting/compliance activities
  • Train or arrange training for appropriate personnel accordingly
  • Maintain compliance in changing regulatory and growing business environment
  • Develop chemical disposal plan for location(s)

Automobile Program (if applicable):

  • Identify opportunities and programs to reduce auto related incidents
  • Evaluate prior years’ incidents and current trends. Provide action plans for improvement and track to completion
  • Communicate monthly KPIs
  • Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in a related field, preferred
  • Ability to successfully work independently or within a team
  • Must be able to influence without direct authority

  • Intermediate computer skills, experience with Microsoft programs and email communication

  • Must be willing to travel minimally to US & Canadian production facilities
  • Environmental, Health, and Safety Degree, preferred
  • Minimum of one year compliance experience, preferred
  • Minimum of one years related role in a manufacturing/construction/chemical environment, preferred
