Job summary

National Carwash Solutions seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for our Grimes, IA site. You will analyze downtime, lead KPI dashboards (Power BI), and drive value stream improvements across manufacturing processes.

Required: 5+ years in manufacturing, BS in engineering, and ability to travel up to 50%. You will coordinate with design, engineering and operations to optimize throughput, quality and safety while mentoring teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering or industrial technology.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience with scoping, creating ROIs, and onboarding new capital equipment.
• Ability to travel regularly, up to 30-50% depending on project location.
• Proficiency in reading piece part and welding blueprints and cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production equipment downtime, cycle time and process data to identify trends and root causes.
• Design, build and maintain KPI dashboards and reporting tools (Power BI) for leadership visibility.
• Lead major initiatives with executive sponsorship and coordinate resource teams.
• Lead or facilitate value stream mapping (VSM) events to identify waste and prioritize improvements.
• Inspect equipment and processes to ensure designs meet specifications and support manufacturing execution.
• Contribute to design and execution of processes, fixtures, locators, templates, and related equipment.
• Provide training for manufacturing processes and support sourcing projects for in-house production.
• Advance continuous improvement culture and collaborate with design, engineering and manufacturing teams.

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will…

• Analyze production equipment downtime, cycle time, and process data across NCS manufacturing facilities to identify trends, bottlenecks, and root causes
• Design, build, and maintain KPI dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) that give operations and engineering leadership visibility into throughput, quality, safety, and cost performance
• Lead critical company initiatives that have high visibility with the executive team and sponsors. Provide direction and structured accountability to resource teams assigned to these mid-to-long projects.
• Lead or facilitate value stream mapping (VSM) events to identify waste and prioritize improvement opportunities across the value stream
• Inspect equipment and processes being designed and built utilizing the appropriate tools to ensure items meet Design and Engineering specifications
• Be involved with the complete design and execution of processes, the fixtures, templates, locators, etc. used in the manufacturing and operations processes
• Construction and maintenance of fixtures, templates, locators and miscellaneous equipment used in the manufacturing process
• Play an active role in the culture of continuous improvement
• Review and analyze manufacturing functions, submitting suggestions to improve efficiency, quality, safety and cost
• Provide programming assistance on various manufacturing machines and may train employees to perform the same
• Review cost savings or any type of other suggestion submitted by employees pertaining to the manufacturing process. Participates in investigating and responding to the same
• Act as a liaison between design, engineering and manufacturing. Coordinating manufacturing abilities with engineering specifications and requests, and product design requirements
• Work with manufacturing management to provide practical training for the manufacturing process
• Play an active role on in sourcing projects that may include documenting or reverse engineering items to be made in house
• Comply with all applicable OSHA, EPA, local regulatory laws, and company safety policies
• Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time

What You Need…

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering or industrial technology
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing setting
• Experience with scoping, creating ROIs, and on-boarding new capital equipment.
• Ability to travel regularly, up to 30 - 50% at times depending on the location of projects
• Ability to read and understand piece part and welding blue prints as designed by the Engineering Department
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and/or as part as a cross functional team
• Strong mathematical abilities
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in ACAD or Solidworks
• Required to be familiar with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience with metal fabrication, bending, machining, and/or welding a plus.
• Experience with both discrete and process-based manufacturing environments a plus
• PLC programming and industrial automation experience a plus
• Experience with IoT product implementation and or use a plus
• Experience with data automation and analytical tools a plus

Physical Requirements

• Must stoop, bend, reach, walk; perform repetitive motions using hands to grasp, push, pull or do fine manipulations
• Required to stand for prolonged periods
• Intermittently lift light to medium weight up to 50 lbs.
