Job summary

CMI Group is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to develop and sustain safety and environmental policies for a zero-injury workplace at our Phoenix facility. The role emphasizes aerospace-related hazards and regulatory compliance, with on-site duties daily.

The ideal candidate will have extensive OSHA/EPA knowledge, AS9100 familiarity, and at least 5 years in an aerospace/industrial setting, plus strong training and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or related technical field and/or Certified Occupational Safety Specialist or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in aerospace or industrial manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and coordinates routine audits of the manufacturing facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develops and implements aerospace-specific health, safety, and chemical hygiene procedures.
  • Leads incident investigations, performs root cause analysis, and implements corrective actions.
  • Prepares and conducts training on all mandatory EHS training per federal and state regulations, including emergency procedures, workplace safety, and hazardous waste handling.
  • Monitors compliance with OSHA, EPA, and AS9100 standards.
  • Manages the tracking, disposal, and reporting of hazardous waste and industrial discharges.
  • Ensures Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are updated and accessible.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for regulatory agency inspections and audits.
  • Leads an effective Safety Committee with a focus on employee engagement in the company safety systems.
  • Maintains and reports safety metrics, OSHA 300 Log, and other pertinent regulatory reports

Position Overview

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator will develop, implement, and sustain safety and environmental policies to ensure a compliant, zero-injury work environment. This role focuses heavily on the unique chemical, mechanical, and regulatory hazards inherent to aerospace manufacturing.

This role requires daily on-site presence at our manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 standards.
  • Strong understanding of lock-out/tag-out, machine guarding, and chemical safety.
  • Excellent communication skills for training diverse manufacturing teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or a related technical field and/or Certified Occupational Safety Specialist or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in an aerospace or industrial manufacturing environment required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to conduct active inspections on a manufacturing shop floor.
  • Comfortable walking, standing, and climbing stairs in a loud manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to wear standard manufacturing PPE.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
