Job summary

CMI Group, Systems 3 Division, seeks a Production Control & Scheduling Specialist in Tempe to improve production flow, manage master schedules, and ensure ERP data accuracy across planning, operations, and customer communications.

The ideal candidate will balance fast-paced aerospace manufacturing priorities with customer commitments, maintain schedule integrity, track work orders, and drive on-time deliveries while supporting continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years in Production Control, Scheduling, Planning, or related manufacturing role.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows and production scheduling concepts.
  • Experience tracking production status and coordinating work order flow.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (ITAR/EAR compliance)

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of the master production schedule.
  • Release and manage manufacturing work orders in accordance with established priorities.
  • Maintain daily production dispatch lists and work center priorities.
  • Monitor schedule performance and identify potential delays before customer commitments are impacted.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Planning to align production priorities with available capacity and customer requirements.
  • Support schedule recovery planning for overdue and at-risk jobs.
  • Manage work order movement throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure travelers, routers, and production documentation are accurate and available.
  • Monitor work order status and maintain accurate production visibility.
  • Identify and elevate production bottlenecks, constraints, and aging work orders.
  • Support efficient movement of jobs through machining, inspection, outside processing, and shipping operations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of production transactions.
  • Monitor operation closeouts and labor reporting compliance.
  • Support earned hours reporting accuracy through verification of production data.
  • Maintain accurate production status, inventory transactions, and work order information within the ERP system.
  • Conduct routine audits of production reporting and transaction accuracy.
  • Lead production status meetings and customer line-of-balance reviews.
  • Support customer status reporting and schedule communication activities.
  • Provide timely updates on production progress, schedule risks, and recovery plans.
  • Partner with Program Management to ensure customer priorities are reflected in production schedules.
  • Assist in developing and communicating recovery plans for overdue jobs and customer-critical deliveries.
  • Monitor WIP levels throughout the facility.
  • Track aging work orders and identify opportunities to improve production flow.
  • Support inventory accuracy through proper transaction management and reporting.
  • Assist with cycle count activities and inventory investigations as needed.
  • Improve visibility of material shortages, bottlenecks, and production constraints.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and driven Production Control & Scheduling Specialist to help improve production flow, schedule execution, customer delivery performance, ERP data accuracy, manufacturing visibility, and customer communication across the organization.

The Production Control & Scheduling Specialist serves as the central coordination point between Planning, Operations, Program Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and Customers.

This role is responsible for maintaining production schedule integrity, managing work order flow, monitoring production status, supporting schedule recovery efforts, ensuring ERP transaction accuracy, and communicating production status internally and externally.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment where production priorities, customer commitments, and operational constraints must be continuously balanced and managed.

Key Responsibilities

Production Scheduling & Execution

  • Support execution of the master production schedule.
  • Release and manage manufacturing work orders in accordance with established priorities.
  • Maintain daily production dispatch lists and work center priorities.
  • Monitor schedule performance and identify potential delays before customer commitments are impacted.

Customer & Program Communication

Work-In-Process (WIP) & Inventory Visibility

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Production Control, Production Scheduling, Planning, Manufacturing Coordination, Program Scheduling, or a related manufacturing role.
  • Experience working within ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows and production scheduling concepts.
  • Experience tracking production status and coordinating work order flow.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (ITAR / EAR compliance)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace, defense, CNC machining, metal fabrication, or precision manufacturing experience.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience supporting customer delivery commitments and schedule recovery efforts.
  • Experience participating in customer production reviews, line-of-balance reviews, or program status meetings.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and ITAR manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
