Job summary

Selbert Perkins Design in Chicago seeks an Environmental Graphic Designer to work with Partners, Principals, Marketing Directors, Design Directors, Proposal Writers, and Designers on transportation, healthcare, hospitality, ritual, and international branded environments.

The role covers all design phases from concept to construction administration, with responsibilities spanning research, documentation, and coordination across teams.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.
• Experience with planning, documenting, and managing environmental graphics, branding, placemaking, and wayfinding projects.

Responsibilities

• Participate in research, analysis, strategy and concept development.
• Prepare presentations and participate in milestone meetings with ownership and consultant teams.
• Create electronic and final art files including templates for fabricators and design team usage.
• Review shop drawings, material/color samples, mockups and punch lists during construction administration.
• Coordinate with the project director and steward design direction among all team members.
• Assist with project management, meeting notes, and scheduling.
• Assist with production management including writing specifications and soliciting vendor bids.
• Handle design administration including filing and maintaining project folders.
• Coordinate with other team members and support staff.

You will workalongsidea teamofPartners,Principals,MarketingDirectors,DesignDirectors, Proposal Writers, and Designers to develop projects for transportation wayfinding, healthcare signage, hospitality, ritual, and international branded environments.

Job Summary

TheEnvironmentalGraphicDesignerwillbeinvolvedinallphasesofthe design process including concept, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.

Responsibilities

Design

• Participationinalleffortsrelatedtoresearch&analysis,strategy&concept development, documentation, and implementation.
• Preparationofpresentationmaterialsandparticipationinmilestone&periodic meetings with ownership & consultant teams.
• Preparationofelectronicandfinalartfilesincludingtemplatesforfabricatorand design team usage.
• Participateandreviewshopdrawings,materials/colorsamples,mockupand punch list reviews, and all matters related to the construction administrationphase.

Project Administration

• Assist with project management in support of the project director or whenever necessaryandappropriateincludingtakinganddistributingmeetingnotesand coordinating project schedules.
• Assistwithproductionmanagementincludingwritingspecifications,soliciting& reviewing vendor bids.
• Designadministrationincludingfiling,maintenanceofprojectfolders,and preparation of storage files.
• Assistwithcoordination/supervisionofotherteammembersorsupportstaff.

Marketing/Business Developement

• Identifyingout-of-scopeeffortsandalertingtheprojectdirector&marketing team to develop additional service requests.
• Supportnewbusinessfunctionsasrequiredincludingassistancewithresearch, proposal, and presentation development.
• Assessingandsharingnewbusinessdevelopmentopportunitieswithexisting clients with the marketing team

Client Services

• Verbalandwrittencommunications,informationresearch,andtasksonbehalf of the client/project needs as deemed appropriate by the project director.
• Servingasclientcontactwheredeemedappropriatebytheprojectdirector.

Qualifications

• BachelorsDegreeinGraphicDesign,IndustrialDesign,Architecture,orother related field.
• 1+ years of professional experience with planning, documenting, and managementofenvironmentalgraphics,brandedenvironment,placemaking, and wayfinding projects.
• Generalfamiliarityandexperiencewithphasesofworkfromconceptthrough construction administration.
• Generalunderstandingofcoderequirementsrelatedtoaspectsofwayfindingsignage.
• Abilitytoprioritizeandconcurrentlyservicemultipleprojectsinafast-pace working environment.
• Excellentcommunicationandpresentationskills.
• ProficientinAdobeCreativeSuite(Illustrator,InDesign,PhotoshopandCADtools).
• SomeknowledgeinSketchUp,Revitorother3Dmodelingprogram.
