Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Geologist or Hydrogeologist III for our Long Beach, CA office. You will support site investigation and remediation projects across the LA Basin, collect and interpret geological data, and oversee field activities and subcontractors.

The role requires a BA/BS, 4 years of experience, and a valid driver's license, with CA licensure preferred. Travel up to 25% is expected. You'll mentor staff and contribute to health and safety planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geology or related field required.
• Experience with environmental investigation and remediation preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for reports and client coordination.

Responsibilities

• Support site characterization, subsurface investigation, and remediation activities.
• Collect, evaluate, and interpret geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data in field and office settings.
• Plan, conduct, and supervise fieldwork, including stakeholder engagement and logistics coordination.
• Oversee subcontractors, utility clearance, and site safety procedures.
• Perform groundwater and soil sampling, drilling, logging, and aquifer testing.
• Prepare plans, permits, and reports for hazardous waste, air quality, stormwater, and wastewater programs.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate with project managers to meet scope, budget, and schedule.
• Travel up to 25% to various sites.
• Data management, report preparation and coordination with technical team.
