Job summary

APTIM seeks an Environmental Geologist in the Concord, California area to support our Solid Waste Services Group. The candidate will perform groundwater and stormwater compliance work, environmental site assessments, and remediation support across diverse projects.

Responsibilities include preparing regulatory reports, overseeing monitoring-well installations, coordinating sampling, and communicating technical findings to project teams.

Qualifications

• BS/MS Geology, Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience.
• Licensed State of California Professional Geologist or Engineer.
• Experience working with the California State Water Resources Control Board.
• Possession of 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher.
• Knowledge of statistical evaluation methods (Sanitas software knowledge a plus).
• Experience with collecting environmental field data including groundwater, surface water, leachate, and landfill gas.
• Ability to work on multidisciplinary projects.
• Excellent oral & written communication skills.
• Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
• Possess a “Safety First” work ethic.
• Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner.
• Landfill / Solid Waste experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare regulatory compliance reports (semiannual, quarterly, work plans, special studies).
• Oversee installation of monitoring wells and supervise field tasks.
• Coordinate with field team and laboratory for sampling paperwork and bottle orders.
• Communicate technical concepts and results in meetings, ensuring standards and policies are followed.
• Provide technical oversight and quality control.
• Anticipate client needs and identify solutions.
• Solve complex environmental problems using multidisciplinary knowledge.
• Evaluate geologic and hydrogeologic conditions and provide analyses.
• Prepare and manage scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Coordinate with contractors and clients, and collaborate with team.
• Attend client meetings and contribute as required.
