Job summary

Tarrant Regional Water District seeks an Environmental Technician I to collect water quality samples from District reservoirs and the Fort Worth floodway system, to maintain sampling equipment, and to analyze data. You will calibrate analyzers, conduct field sampling of lakes, pipelines, and wetlands, deliver samples to the lab, and assist with data analysis and documentation.

Requires strong communication, MS Office skills, and a Texas driver’s license; a BS is preferred with substitution by

Qualifications

• Less than one year of related experience.
• Must communicate effectively with public and local contacts during field work to represent the District accurately.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office with basic knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Proficiency in water quality sampling and current SWQM procedures within one year of starting this position.
• Valid Texas driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate and maintain water quality analyzers weekly.
• Maintain equipment and supplies to ensure data reliability of analyzers.
• Collect water and soil samples from lakes, pipelines, tributaries, and wetlands.
• Deliver samples to laboratory for analysis.
• Calibrate water quality sondes.
• Assist with weekly sampling and laboratory analysis of samples from wetlands projects.
• Operate and maintain wetlands systems including valve manipulation and flow measurements.
• Prepare equipment for sampling and analysis and manage data updates.
• Investigate pollution concerns, collect samples, and document findings.
