Job summary

Gilder Search Group is seeking an Environmental Field Technician in Virginia Beach to gain field experience while supporting data collection from flow monitoring systems used to improve the city’s water infrastructure.

No prior experience is required; the role suits outdoorsy people comfortable entering confined spaces. Expect a 40-hour week with limited overtime, light travel, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401K.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; AS or BS degrees in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology or a related degree program welcomed
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record with ability to operate a company vehicle
• Ability to detect, resolve and report equipment issues (strong electrical and mechanical aptitude preferred)
• Strong computer literacy with ability to effectively utilize commonly used computer software programs (experience with GIS strongly preferred)

Responsibilities

• Install flow monitoring systems within sewer lines.
• Install rainfall monitoring equipment.
• Input data into software systems including GIS.
• Inspect sewer manholes manually or with telemonitoring equipment.
• Operate and maintain instruments and equipment.
• Document inspections in field notes promptly and accurately.
• Adhere to safety requirements and assist teammates.
• All other duties as assigned.

As an Environmental Field Technician, you will be gaining valuable field experience while supporting collection of specialized data from flow monitoring systems used to improve the city's water infrastructure. This need has been created in response to a year long project associated with collecting this data within the great Virginia Beach area. We are willing to consider candidates without experience. Responsibility Summary - Environmental Field Technician

• Installation of flow monitoring systems within sewer lines.

• Inspect sewer manholes manually or with telemonitoring equipment.
