Job summary

Bowman Consulting seeks an Environmental Field Technician to join our team remotely. The role involves collecting and compiling environmental data from sites including bat and avian monitoring.

You will operate field equipment, perform biological monitoring, conduct wetland/water delineations, log detailed notes, and perform basic data calculations, with 75–90% field time and opportunities to grow within the company.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree in environmental science or related field preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field a plus.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience.
  • Wetland/water delineation experience required.
  • Must be willing to work in the field 75-90% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle check required.

Purpose

This position involves the collection and compilation of environmental data from sites including bat and avian monitoring, under different stages or phases of environmental work processes.

Leadership and Direction
  • Perform work under moderate supervision. Receive direction on moderately complex assignments, tasks, and execution. Work is frequently reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles. Review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.
  • Associate's degree in environmental science, Geology, or related field preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Geology, or related field a plus.
  • Three or more (3+) years of relevant industry‑related experience.
  • Must have wetland/water delineation experience.
  • WPIT or PWS strongly preferred.
  • Must be willing to work in the field 75‑90% of time.
  • Knowledge in the operation and use of field equipment, which includes, but is not limited to, 4x4 trucks, compass, tablet, range finder, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must hold a valid state driver's license and successfully pass a motor vehicle check.

Salary and eligible variable compensation (if any) commensurate with experience. Hourly Range $25.25 - $31.50 and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Primarily outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.
  • Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out‑of‑the‑area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 51‑100 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 51‑100 pounds.
  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
