Job summary

ITMS, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join our team supporting environmental remediation programs at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. This role requires the ability to complete a background investigation and obtain a CAC.

You will execute field activities including monitoring, site assessment, remediation and construction tasks. You will use various tools, document field work, and supervise subcontractors as needed while adhering to safety standards and project requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2+ years of related fieldwork experience; mechanical aptitude.
• Landfill experience preferred.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus and may be provided if not earned.
• Ability to work outdoors with a flexible schedule and some weekend work.
• Strong work ethic, detail oriented and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Executes, supervises and documents field aspects of environmental monitoring, site assessment, remediation and construction activities at the base.
• Conducts land use control inspections for landfills, dump sites and test sites.
• Maintains calibration logs and uses precision measuring equipment and hand tools.
• Supervises excavation, well-drilling and trades contractors; performs general labor as required.
• Performs groundwater monitoring well surveys and maintenance.
• Handles data recording, warehouse and maintenance duties, and safety procedures.
• Performs source water, sludge and groundwater purging, sampling with low-flow techniques.
• Works with water wells, piping and pumps; ensures compliance with ITMS policies and safety standards.

Description

ITMS, Inc. (ITMS), is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join our team of subject matter experts supporting environmental remediation programs at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. This position requires the ability to complete a background investigation and obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).

Position Responsibilities:

• Executes, supervises and documents field aspects of environmental monitoring, site assessment, remediation and construction activities primarily at the base. Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Working knowledge of landfill operations.
• Completing land use control inspections for various components of the base (i.e. landfills, dump sites, test sites, creeks).
• Applying mechanical knowledge and experience to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
• Using precision measuring equipment and various hand and power tools.
• Documenting and supervising excavation, well-drilling, and various trade contractors.
• Performing general labor and construction duties based on the project requirements.
• Working with water wells, piping and pumps.
• Conducting groundwater monitoring well surveys and maintenance.
• Maintaining equipment calibration logs.
• Recording field notes to the specific task performed at each site location.
• Handling general warehouse and maintenance duties.
• Performing source water, sludge and groundwater purging, monitoring or sampling activities via low flow sampling techniques.
• Performing composite soil sampling.
• Following ITMS engineering, construction, and O&M policies and procedures.
• Adhering to ITMS Health & Safety Standards in all field-related activities.

Skills and Requirements:

• A High School diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2+ years of related fieldwork experience. Mechanical aptitude is required.
• Landfill experience is preferred.
• Strong technical and mechanical abilities.
• Common Access Card (CAC) or prior Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) environmental support is a plus.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training will be provided if this certification is not yet earned. This certification is required to perform the duties of this position.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule to support project needs and be agreeable to outdoor work.
• Weekend availability may be required occasionally, including daytime and/or overnight work.
• Must have a strong work ethic and be detail oriented and a team player.
