Job summary

South Carolina Department of Environmental Services is seeking an Environmental Scientist to evaluate potential Federal and State Superfund sites, perform site visits, sampling, and data interpretation. You will submit technical reports and maintain ePermitting and tracking systems, coordinating sampling events and monitoring well permits.

The role involves fieldwork, collaboration with the Site Assessment Division, and potential Nuclear Response Program duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in natural or physical sciences or related technical field.
• Associate degree with two years of environmental experience accepted.
• High school diploma with four years of environmental experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Perform Federal and State pre-remedial activities, including research and writing of Pre-CERCLA Screening reports, Preliminary Assessments, Site Inspections and reports for state activities.
• Conduct field work necessary to evaluate assigned sites and maintain information tracking systems.
• Assist with monitoring well applications and provide documentation to applicants; review data and respond accordingly.
