Job description

Clean Harbors in Caseyville, IL is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist CDL Driver (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste in accordance with Federal/State/Local regulations and company policies. This position involves working both indoors and outdoors at various sites, assisting with lab packs, household hazardous waste collections, and lab moves. This is a customer-facing role, requiring daily work at customer sites.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure compliance with safety practices and policies
  2. Prepare packing lists, labels, and manifests
  3. Inspect storage areas and drums for leaks, spills, and compliance
  4. Package waste chemicals properly for disposal
  5. Perform jobs at customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies
  6. Approve projects before shipment per regulations and policies
  7. Conduct projects according to regulations and safety plans
  8. Understand and adhere to customer disposal restrictions
  9. Sample and profile waste streams as needed
  10. Verify drum counts and conditions for shipment
  11. Follow all local, state, and federal regulations
  12. Operate vehicles safely according to DOT and other requirements
  13. Observe all safety and operational guidelines
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsements within 6 months
  • Ability to perform physical tasks as required
  • Successful completion of background check, drug test, and physical
  • Meet facial hair standards per OSHA respirator regulations
Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree in Chemistry or Natural Science
  • Experience in environmental services such as remediation or spill response
