Job summary

Gradient, a Geosyntec Company, is seeking an Environmental Epidemiologist to conduct epidemiology analyses for human health risk. The candidate will work independently and with scientists from toxicology, exposure science and risk assessment, and may work fully remote from a home office in Washington, DC while supporting our Boston, MA operations.

The role includes leading projects on occupational health, regulatory comments, product safety assessments and site-specific risk assessment;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science; epidemiology or related field preferred (required).
• Advanced degree in epidemiology (MS/PhD) preferred.
• 7+ years related experience; strong written and oral communication; statistical skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects involving occupational health, regulatory comment, product safety assessments and site-specific human health risk assessment.
• Qualitatively and quantitatively assess exposure and human health risks from chemicals in the environment and consumer products.
• Perform analyses including systematic reviews, weight-of-evidence reviews, hazard assessments, and preparing tables.
• Conduct literature searches and critically review and evaluate epidemiology and exposure studies.
• Contribute to and oversee the preparation of deliverables (reports, memoranda, proposals, agency comments).
• Manage and contribute to projects of varying scopes and complexity, demonstrating leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

Gradient, a Geosyntec Company, is seeking a motivated and resourceful Environmental Epidemiologist who will conduct epidemiology analyses for science-based evaluations with a focus on human health risk. Candidate will work independently and also collaboratively with scientists in other disciplines (e.g., toxicologists, exposure scientists, human health risk assessors) and should enjoy fast paced and technically challenging work. Strong candidates are able to work independently on systematic review, weight-of-evidence evaluation, regulatory comment, litigation support, product safety assessments, and human health risk assessment in the fields of environmental, dietary, pharmaco-, pesticide, occupational, and consumer product epidemiology. You will have the opportunity to work fully remote from your home-office in Washington, DC and join our growing practice supporting our Boston, MA operations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Education and Licensure

• Bachelor's degree in science field, preferably biological sciences or related field. (required)


• Advanced degree (e.g., M.S. or Ph.D.) in epidemiology or related field. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• At least 7 years (8+ preferred) of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)


• Exceptional written and oral communication. (required)


• Strong statistical skills and the ability to critically evaluate epidemiology data. (required)


• Knowledge of food, consumer or medical product, pharmaceutical, pesticide, chemical, occupational, or environmental regulations, air modeling, and other exposure assessment techniques. (preferred)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

• Minimum Salary: $112,260/year / Maximum Salary: $180,745/year (Washington D.C)


• Minimum Salary: $117,365/year / Maximum Salary: $188,960/year (Boston, MA)
