Job summary

Nordstrom Williams is seeking an Environmental Engineering Department Manager / Environmental Practice Manager to lead a growing team delivering high-impact public infrastructure projects across Upstate New York.

You will shape department strategy, guide complex environmental programs, and serve as a trusted resource to major public agencies, with hybrid work arrangements available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Planning, Biology, Geology, or a related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience, including project and personnel management.
• Strong SEQR, NEPA, and environmental permitting expertise.
• PE, PG, or AICP credential preferred.
• Experience in air or water quality, ecology and wildlife biology, historic and cultural resource evaluation, Phase I/II ESAs, or environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Direct departmental operations, staffing, mentoring, workload, and performance management.
• Oversee environmental studies, assessments, permitting, and design support.
• Lead SEQR and NEPA compliance on complex public-sector projects.
• Manage budgets, schedules, quality, profitability, and client relationships.
• Drive proposals, scope development, fee estimates, and business development.
• Review technical reports and conduct field investigations as needed.
