Job summary

Lilly is constructing an advanced manufacturing facility in the US to support API production. The Environmental Engineer – Associate will help develop and sustain site environmental programs, focusing on waste management and water compliance, from startup through GMP operations.

The role collaborates with Project Delivery, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality and HSE to integrate environmental requirements into readiness plans and to prepare required records and reports for regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of environmental, engineering, manufacturing, or compliance-related experience; experience in chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing support preferred.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not sponsor work authorization or visas.

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental technical input during design, construction, commissioning, startup, and ops to ensure permit and regulatory requirements are met.
• Support development and implementation of environmental programs, training, and management systems for startup and long-term compliance.
• Assist in environmental permitting strategies, review applications, track commitments, and prepare regulatory documentation.
• Integrate environmental requirements into startup readiness plans, procedures, and governance processes.
• Participate in incident investigations, audits, and continuous improvement planning.
• Support environmental program administration, including records, permits, reports, and calculations.
