Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. in Boise, Idaho, seeks an Environmental Engineer (Senior) to lead and improve environmental compliance programs, including IDP, RCRA, air permitting, stormwater, SPCC, and audits, in a world-class semiconductor fabrication site.

You will work with operations, facilities, contractors and regulators to identify risks, implement solutions, and drive continuous improvement using AI tools; Bachelor's in relevant field and 2–5 years experience required.

  • Ability to interpret regulations, permits, and technical requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multi-functional teams and regulators.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct wastewater sampling, monitoring, inspections, and data collection activities while supporting the operation and compliance of wastewater treatment systems and monitoring equipment.
  • Review analytical data, evaluate compliance status, identify trends, and investigate potential permit exceedances and abnormal discharge conditions.
  • Prepare permit-required reports, compliance certifications, technical evaluations, and regulatory communications to maintain environmental compliance.
  • Lead or support investigations involving permit exceedances, bypasses, spills, upsets, and other compliance events, including development and tracking of corrective actions and pollution prevention measures.
  • Support permit renewals, modifications, regulatory inspections, and audits while building effective relationships with the City of Boise Pretreatment Program and other regulatory agencies.

Job Description Summary

Do you have a passion for developing sophisticated Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) systems? In Boise, Idaho, we are building one of the most advanced semiconductor fabrication sites in the world, and we are focused on protecting our people, community, and environment.

As an Environmental Engineer, you will develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve environmental compliance programs to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permit requirements. This role supports critical environmental programs including the Indirect Discharge Permit (IDP), RCRA hazardous waste management, air permitting, stormwater compliance, Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) programs, and other environmental compliance initiatives. The Environmental Engineer works closely with operations, facilities, construction, contractors, and regulatory agencies to identify environmental risks, implement effective compliance solutions, and support Micron's commitment to operational excellence and environmental stewardship.

Primary job responsibilities include the following:
  • Conduct wastewater sampling, monitoring, inspections, and data collection activities while supporting the operation and compliance of wastewater treatment systems and monitoring equipment.
  • Review analytical data, evaluate compliance status, identify trends, and investigate potential permit exceedances and abnormal discharge conditions.

Environmental Compliance Programs
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, permits, licenses, and company environmental management standards, including ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Conduct environmental audits, inspections, assessments, and compliance reviews; evaluate regulatory changes, quantify environmental impacts, and assess proposed operational or project-related changes.
  • Prepare and maintain technical reports, permit applications, regulatory submittals, compliance documentation, management summaries, and audit-ready environmental records.
  • Support environmental permitting, compliance activities, regulatory inspections, agency interactions, facility expansions, and new projects while serving as a key liaison with regulators, consultants, contractors, and internal partners.
  • Communicate environmental requirements across supported organizations, deliver environmental training programs, support on-call responsibilities, and drive process improvements through the use of AI and other efficiency-enhancing tools.
