Job summary

Matrix New World Engineering, part of True Environmental, is seeking an Environmental Engineer, Scientist, or Geologist I for its NYC office. The role will lead project and field work, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments/Investigations and preparation of Remedial Action Workplans in the NYC metropolitan area.

Ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience and is ready to take on leadership and staff training. Strong writing and communication are critical.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in environmental consulting.
  • Ability to lead project and field work.
  • Experience with Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments/Investigations.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Willingness to train junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Complete site investigations to determine contamination across media.
  • Complete Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Participate in all aspects of site investigation and remediation, including workplans, fieldwork, reports, and remedial documents.
  • Assist with technical reports, specifications, data management, and remediation planning.
  • Assist with training entry-level staff.
  • Oversee subcontractors during field activities and sampling.
  • Perform Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments per ASTM E1527 and conduct peer reviews.
  • Prepare summary reports with lab data, tables, figures and text.
  • Provide environmental construction field management, including air monitoring and remediation oversight.

We are currently seeking an Environmental Engineer, Scientist, or Geologist I for our growing environmental consulting practice in our NYC office. The successful candidate will lead project and field work, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments/Investigations and preparation of Remedial Action Workplans in the NYC metropolitan area. The ideal candidate for this position is an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who has at least 2 years of experience and is ready to take on project leadership and staff training. Strong interpersonal and writing skills are critical.

Salary range starts at $70,000

What you'll do
  • Complete site investigations to determine the nature and extent of contaminated soil, soil vapor, sediment, groundwater, and other media on a variety of sites, including public (parks, schools/universities, transit-related), residential, industrial. commercial, and private.
  • Complete Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
  • Participate in all aspects of site investigation and remediation, from preparation of workplans, conducting field work, writing summary reports, and final remedial documents
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and plans; data management and evaluation; and environmental assessment and remediation;
  • The candidate will assist with training entry level staff
  • Field work will include oversight of subcontractors, including drillers and other laborersduring soil boring advancement, monitoring well installation, test pit installation, excavation activities, and remedial construction activities; and sampling various media including soil, groundwater, sediment, soil vapor, and air
  • Perform Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM E1527, supervise junior staff, and perform peer reviews of same.
  • Prepare summary reports including reviewing laboratory analytical data; interpreting and tabulating data and preparing tables; soil boring logs; figures; and text
  • Provide environmental construction field management, such as community air monitoring, soil management, remedial construction oversight, and more
Peferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30-Hour construction training preferred
