Job summary

Domtar's Ashdown Mill in Arkansas is hiring an Environmental Engineer to join the on-site environmental team. You will focus on compliance and sustainability, ensuring regulatory permits are met and processes minimize waste while improving efficiency.

Responsibilities include monitoring air, water and waste streams, preparing reports, training staff, and collaborating with operations to implement pollution prevention measures and capital projects with regulatory impacts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.
• Experience with environmental monitoring equipment and data analysis.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Manage routine sampling, monitoring, and analysis of air, water, and waste streams.
• Track and report environmental performance metrics (e.g., emissions, effluent, waste generation).
• Prepare and submit required environmental reports and permits.
• Maintain and update environmental management systems and documentation.
• Investigate and respond to environmental incidents.
• Review capital improvement projects for permit and regulatory impacts.
• Conduct environmental training for employees and contractors.
