Job summary

GCC is seeking an Environmental Engineer for our Three Forks, MT plant to develop and implement programs ensuring compliance with state, federal, local permitting requirements. You will identify environmental impacts and craft strategies to reduce overall impact while representing GCC in public forums.

You will manage site inspections, assist in permit preparation, facilitate agency inspections, analyze performance, and train plant personnel. Relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering preferred.
• 2-7 years’ environmental experience with air and water regulations (NSPS, PSD/NSR, NESHAP, Title V) in manufacturing.
• Familiarity with local state environmental regulations a plus.
• Experience with cement, lime, or similar industries a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages environmental project and compliance activities at cement plants and area terminals.

• Gathers information for permit applications and coordinates with facility personnel.
• Facilitates agency inspections and demonstrates regulatory compliance with plant leadership.
• Analyzes environmental performance and communicates results.
• Develops compliance strategies and tracks schedules and deadlines.
• Prepares and submits facility environmental reports to agencies.
• Performs data analysis, maintains records, and files required documents on time.
• Assesses environmental risk and advises on risk management strategies.
• Plans sampling, testing, and monitoring of regulated pollutants.
• Evaluates codes, standards, and regulations for impact on activities.
• Identifies environmental issues needing capital expenditure and supports funding requests.
• Conducts critical environmental training for plant employees.
• Develops action plans to reduce environmental impacts.

What you will do:

Develops and implements programs to ensure environmental compliance with applicable state, federal, local, and permitting requirements. Identifies environmental impacts of the sites and develops a strategy to reduce the overall environmental impact of the operations. Develops community environmental awareness programs and represents GCC in public forums.

• Work with facility personnel to gather necessary information for the preparation of environmental permit applications.

• Track environmental compliance schedules and deadlines and ensure timely completion of required activities.

• Perform statistical analysis, prepare reports, maintain appropriate compliance records, and file required documents with various regulatory agencies within deadlines.
• Assess the environmental risk of activities and advise the team of risk management strategies.
• Plan and support execution of sampling, testing, and monitoring of regulated pollutants.
• Evaluate current and proposed codes, standards, regulations, and guidelines to determine the impact on current and future activities.
• Identify environmental issues that require capital expenditure, assist in the preparation of funding requests, and support the implementation of the chosen solution.
• Conduct critical environmental training for plant employees.
• Develop action plans to reduce environmental impacts.

Experience and abilities you will need:

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering preferred.
• 2-7 years’ environmental experience with air and water regulations, including NSPS, PSD/NSR, NESHAP, and Title V in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with local state environmental regulations a plus.
• Direct experience with cement, lime, or other source category industry a plus.
• Strong communication ability, both verbal and written
