Job Description

Barr is seeking an environmental engineer to join one of its Minnesota offices and undertake challenging and progressive work on projects related to the investigation, evaluation, and remediation of contaminated sites.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical work plans, cost estimates, and contracts for investigations of contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, and soil gas.
• Interpret data, perform technology evaluations, and develop remediation strategies and designs.
• Coordinate technology demonstration tests, complete feasibility studies, and prepare technical reports.
• Conduct on-site investigations and monitor treatment systems.
• Work may include construction observation and work on water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Fieldwork may occur year-round with some travel.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental, civil, geological, or chemical engineering or related fields.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Proficiency in computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% and work in the field.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in relevant fields.
• Registered professional engineer or ability to become registered within a year.
• HAZWOPER certification.
• Project management and leadership experience.
• Experience with client communication and business development.

Work Arrangement & Location

This position may be hybrid, based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Duluth, or Hibbing offices.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $80,000–$100,000/year, with potential bonuses. Benefits include professional development, 401(k), ESOP, health insurance, paid time off, and more.
