Job summary

Otter Tail Power Company is seeking an Environmental Services Engineer II or III to support critical infrastructure projects and ensure regulatory compliance across a diverse energy portfolio.

The role emphasizes leading compliance efforts, guiding engineering plans, and collaborating with internal teams and regulators. Engineer III offers senior technical leadership across generation and infrastructure projects, with mentorship and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related)
• 2-5+ years of relevant experience in engineering or environmental services
• Foundational knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting, and compliance
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward Professional Engineer licensure preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop and support engineering plans and specifications that incorporate environmental and regulatory requirements
• Assist in development, revision, and renewal of environmental compliance plans (SPCC, stormwater)
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports to state and federal agencies
• Analyze environmental and operational data to identify trends and support decisions
• Support permitting activities and project development including applications and approvals
• Collaborate on construction and environmental projects across generation and infrastructure
• Evaluate environmental impacts on cost, schedule, and constructability
• Maintain knowledge of environmental regulations and emerging policies
• Communicate technical information clearly to internal teams, leadership, and regulators
