Job summary

Iowa Department of Natural Resources is seeking an environmental engineer for the Land Quality Bureau in Des Moines, IA. The role focuses on on-site assessments, energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reductions across industrial, hospital, school, government, and commercial facilities.

The position involves training Pollution Prevention interns, conducting technical analyses, preparing reports, and traveling to client sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental/engineering fields as listed.
• Alternative: Professional Engineer (PE) licensure by the Iowa Board of Engineering Examiners.

Responsibilities

• Perform confidential on-site assessments for Pollution Prevention Services programs across diverse facilities.
• Review and prepare studies, plans, specifications and cost savings estimates for improvements.
• Identify opportunities for energy efficiency, water reuse, waste reductions, and emissions reductions.
• Train, mentor, and develop Pollution Prevention interns and deliver training modules.
• Travel to client sites for assessments and stakeholder presentations.
