Job summary

Strata Environmental in Knoxville, TN seeks an Environmental Engineer to help clients maintain compliance with the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and RCRA. You will prepare permit applications, interpret data, and perform regulatory analyses for diverse industries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical/Environmental/Civil/Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • Five years or more environmental consulting or industry experience, with focus on air quality permitting and regulatory analysis.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare permit applications for environmental media across the United States.
  • Collect data from client operations and interpret calculations for air emissions.
  • Determine regulatory compliance for environmental media based on facility operations.
  • Interpreting environmental regulations to implement compliance solutions cost-effectively.
  • Prepare supporting documentation and reports including regulatory compliance reports and air emissions permit applications.
  • Interface with state agencies on behalf of clients regarding environmental compliance and permitting issues.

In this role, the Environmental Engineer will be responsible for assisting various clients to maintain environmental compliance with the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, etc. This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert consulting team on challenging environmental projects for industrial and global clients. Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
  • Preparing permit applications for various environmental media with diverse regulatory requirements and industries throughout the United States.
  • Collecting relevant data from client operations and perform necessary interpretations and calculations to determine air emissions for industrial processes and related operations.
  • Determining regulatory compliance for all environmental media based upon facility operations.
  • Interpreting complex environmental regulations to assist industrial clients with implementing and tracking environmental compliance solutions in a cost-effective manner.
  • Preparing supporting documentation and reports, including but not limited to engineering calculations, engineering drawings, regulatory compliance reports, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, Spill Prevention, Countermeasure, Control Plans, air emissions permit applications, storm water permit applications, and waste-water discharge permit applications.
  • Interfacing and negotiating with state agencies on behalf of clients regarding environmental compliance and permitting issues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical/Environmental/Civil/Mechanical Engineering is required. Professional Engineer preferred.
  • Five (5) years or more of environmental consulting (or industry) experience, with a focus on air quality permitting, compliance, regulatory analysis.
  • A working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Experience in evaluating business focus and direction with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria is preferred.
  • A strong work ethic, be self-motivated, be a strategic thinker, and be customer focused.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, client interaction, and organization/analytical skills.
  • Exceptional organizational/analytical skills to manage/support multiple concurrent projects with a high attention to detail; critical thinking and problem solving; experienced analysis/recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer skills, and be proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and database management, and at least an intermediate to expert knowledge and use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with databases, programming, and data analysis preferred.
  • The ability to travel throughout the United States is necessary.
