Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking an Environmental Engineer specializing in closure and reclamation to join the Environmental Team at the Cortez operation. You will oversee closure projects, ensure regulatory and company-standard compliance, and support sustainable mining practices.

The role requires strong project management and the ability to work across diverse teams, with emphasis on land management, data analysis, and safety leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, mine engineering, geology, hydrology, ecology (or similar) is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage the site's reclamation permits, including regulatory reporting and updating the Reclamation Cost Estimate models as needed.
• Implement closure and reclamation projects in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
• Ensure compliance with the site’s Plan of Operations, with a focus on land management obligations.
• Collect and document site as-built information to track and report reclamation liabilities, ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements.
• Analyze environmental monitoring data for compliance, reclamation, and closure programs, including data on water quality, geochemistry, vegetation, and other material characterization.
• Build relationships with Federal and State authorities to communicate monitoring results and collaborate on strategies for the successful execution of closure and reclamation activities.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of site closure plans.
• Adhere to state and federal health and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
