Chemours is seeking an Environmental Engineer focused on Air Quality to join our Environmental Center of Excellence. The role reports to the Director – Environment and Remediation and supports multiple sites across the United States with potential remote work.

Responsibilities include guiding LDAR, stack testing, dispersion modeling, and permitting; advising on air quality compliance and technology choices; and participating in industry committees to influence proposed regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
• 10–15 years of relevant work experience, including 10+ years in air quality.
• Expertise with U.S. air quality regulations.
• Knowledge of international air quality regulations.

Job description

Overview

Chemours is seeking an Environmental Engineer with a focus in Air Quality to join our Environmental Center of Excellence. The position reports directly to the Director – Environment and Remediation and is located in the United States, preferably near Chemours headquarters or manufacturing locations, with remote work as a possibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to manufacturing sites with guidance to achieve regulatory compliance, interpretation of air regulations, and oversight of contractors for LDAR monitoring, stack testing, air dispersion modeling, and air permitting.
• Support capital projects with air permitting assistance, determination of regulatory applicability, guidance on selection of air pollution control technology, and estimation of air emissions.
• Perform site 2nd‑party environmental audits at plant sites.
• Advocate for Chemours on industry committees and prepare comments to agencies on proposed regulations.
• Collaborate with sustainability leadership on initiatives and practice leaders.
• Anticipate regulatory trends, track changes in air quality regulations, and communicate updates to the company network to ensure preparedness.
• Monitor and analyze environmental performance indicators; share trends and drive continuous improvement and prevention.
• Review and update Chemours environmental standards to maintain top quartile performance.
• Participate in monthly EHS business/region/competency meetings.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
• Required: 10‑15 years relevant work experience, with 10+ years focused on air quality.
• Required: Expertise with U.S. air quality regulations.
• Required: Knowledge and experience with international air quality regulations.
• Required: Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to work at all organizational levels.
• Required: Self‑motivated, independent, and collaborative with strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Required: Valid passport.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
• Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
• Preferred: Experience with other U.S. regulatory programs, including water and waste.
