Job summary

Michigan Sugar Company seeks an Environmental Engineer to support air compliance and broader regulatory duties at its facilities. The role involves permits, inspections, data reporting, and cross-media environmental work with the Director of Environmental.

The engineer will travel to various plants, coordinate with regulators and contractors, and help develop compliance programs and strategies for ongoing growth.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Environmental, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering; related experience considered.
• 1–5 years of experience in regulatory policy and environmental compliance, including air permitting.
• Professional licensing or certification preferred.
• Knowledge of the sugar industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assess regulatory impacts and support compliance implementation across facilities.
• Prepare, renew, and document air permits and related filings with regulators.
• Serve as facility contact during regulatory interactions and audits.
• Maintain presence at facilities and support inspections and stack testing.
• Develop strategy, budgets, and schedules for permitting and compliance programs.
