The U.S. Department of Transportation is seeking an Environmental Engineer to conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and possess specialized experience to qualify for various federal service levels. This role is crucial in navigating complex environmental challenges in engineering projects.
As an Environment Engineer, you will provide environmental compliance design review for engineering service construction and maintenance projects. Environmental issues are identified and mitigated.
Responsibilities include assessing environmental compliance, conducting investigations, and ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
Basic Requirements: Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or a combination of education and experience. The degree must be from an accredited college or university, with specific coursework in engineering science or physics.

B. Combination of education and experience, including college-level coursework, training, or technical experience demonstrating knowledge of physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering.
Additional qualifications include professional registration, passing the Engineer-in-Training exam, or completing relevant coursework. Related curricula may also be acceptable if supported by engineering experience.

In addition to basic requirements, candidates must demonstrate one year of specialized experience related to the position. This includes performing engineering investigations, research, and contributing to design review ensuring compliance with environmental laws and permits.
At FV-G (FG/GS 5/7/9) level, experience in engineering investigations and research is required.
At FV-H level, at least one year of specialized experience demonstrating knowledge in environmental law compliance and project review is necessary.
At FV-I level, experience analyzing environmental data and providing management recommendations is required.
