Job summary

Frey Consulting Group is seeking an Environmental Engineer to manage critical environmental compliance programs at a large Blytheville, Arkansas facility for a Fortune 100 steel manufacturer. The role is hands-on and highly visible, with exposure to waste, water, air, permitting, reporting, auditing and regulatory compliance, and requires close collaboration with production teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least three years of environmental engineering or compliance experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with NPDES and RCRA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental compliance programs involving waste, water, NPDES, RCRA, SPCC, and other regulated media.
  • Oversee waste generation, disposal, and recycling activities onsite.
  • Prepare and evaluate environmental permits, plans, applications, and regulatory documentation.
  • Support monitoring, sampling, testing, reporting, and data management.
  • Lead plant-wide training and compliance audits.
  • Audit waste-disposal and recycling facilities.
  • Investigate issues and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate initiatives and manage contractor performance.
  • Build relationships with production teams, regulators, contractors, and environmental professionals.
  • Support community outreach and environmental education initiatives.
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the facility, with ~25% field time.

Compensation: $100,000–$120,000 Base Salary + 20-25% ROA Bonus + 20–25% Annual Profit Sharing Bonus

Schedule: Monday-Friday, typically 7-4pm

A Fortune 100 steel manufacturer is seeking an Environmental Engineer to manage critical environmental compliance programs at a large-scale manufacturing facility in Blytheville, Arkansas.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role offering exposure to waste, water, air, permitting, reporting, auditing, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have experience owning environmental programs—particularly waste management—and be comfortable working directly with production teams throughout a heavy-industrial facility.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage environmental compliance programs involving waste, water, NPDES, RCRA, SPCC, and other regulated environmental media
  • Oversee onsite waste generation, disposal activities, and recycling processes
  • Prepare and technically evaluate environmental permits, plans, applications, and regulatory documentation
  • Support environmental monitoring, sampling, testing, reporting, and data-management activities
  • Lead plant-wide environmental training and compliance audits
  • Audit waste-disposal and recycling facilities
  • Investigate environmental issues and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement
  • Evaluate environmental initiatives and manage contractor performance
  • Build strong relationships with production teams, regulatory agencies, contractors, and environmental professionals
  • Support community outreach and environmental education initiatives
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the facility, with approximately 25% of the role spent in the field
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or a closely related discipline
  • At least three years of environmental engineering or compliance experience within an industrial, consulting, or regulatory environment
  • Working knowledge of NPDES and RCRA compliance
  • Experience independently managing environmental programs, documentation, reporting, or permitting
  • Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills
  • Ability to build credibility and work effectively with production employees and operating departments
  • Willingness to work onsite in Blytheville, Arkansas
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Experience
  • Environmental experience within steel, metals, mining, chemical manufacturing, paper, power generation, cement, or another heavy-industrial environment
  • Air compliance, permitting, regulatory reporting, emissions-monitoring systems, or air-pollution-control systems
  • Water-management and industrial wastewater programs
  • EPCRA data management, documentation, and reporting
  • ISO 45001 knowledge or auditing experience
  • Environmental training and regulatory auditing
  • Leadership potential and interest in long-term career development

Schedule and Location
