Job summary

Beaufort County is seeking an Environmental Education Specialist to deliver educational programs on wetlands, native habitats, and wildlife to children and adults. Responsibilities include creating itineraries, presenting programs, and coordinating outreach and events across the county.

The role requires an Associate’s degree or two years of college in any field other than engineering/science, plus over one year up to two years of related experience and a valid state driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two years of college education in any field except engineering or hard sciences.
• Over one year and up to two years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Research ideas and develop environmental education programs for children, families, and youth organizations.
• Educate the public on environmental topics through programs and outreach.
• Maintain professional relationships with outside agencies via correspondence and meetings.
• Organize and assist with Earth Day, America Recycles Day, Stormwater Awareness Week and cleanup events.
• Develop and implement environmental education programs including public works, waste diversion, and stormwater topics.
• Assist with compliance initiatives at local, state, and federal levels.
• Prepare grants, report on grant outcomes, and manage reporting requirements.
• Provide training for Beaufort County staff and residents.
• Support data analysis, goal definition, and public relations efforts.
