City of Raleigh's PRCR Department is seeking candidates to support the Nature Preserve in the North Raleigh area. The role involves greeting visitors, interpreting flora, fauna and geology, and developing environmental education programs for the public.

Ideal applicants have a high school diploma, can operate Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Publisher, and are willing to work weekends. This part-time position offers up to 999 hours per year with flexible scheduling and opportunities to gain hands-on

Qualifications

A high school degree is required; additional training in environmental education or related area is strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force and walk on rough terrain.
Willingness to work with visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

Responsabilités

Greet Nature Preserve visitors; interpret flora, fauna and geology from the park office and on trails.
Develop and lead environmental education programs for groups and the general public.
Create instructional materials including signs, posters and displays.
Assist with natural resource management.
Maintain nature play areas, trails, gardens and animal care duties.
Open and/or close the Nature Preserve.
Supervise volunteers and lead volunteer projects.
Serve as part of park emergency response team and address safety concerns.
Perform maintenance and custodial duties.
