Job summary

Magna International – Cosma Group is seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Specialist to lead regulatory reporting, audits, and sustainability initiatives across industrial operations. The role emphasizes program development, data tracking, and teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will ensure compliance with EPA, RCRA, CAA, and CWA requirements, support ISO14001 systems, and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in environmental compliance or sustainability roles in an industrial setting.
  • Certification in environmental management (CHMM, REM, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal environmental regulations (EPA, RCRA, CAA, CWA).
  • Experience with environmental management systems (ISO14001).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate development and delivery of the environmental program and ensure compliance with government standards.
  • Assist with tracking and documenting environmental compliance activities (Ex. Air emissions, waste management, stormwater, wastewater).
  • Support the HSSE Leader in permits and regulatory reporting (EPA, state and local agencies).
  • Conduct facility inspections/audits and report findings and recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain environmental written programs (SPCC, SWPPP, GPP, etc.).
  • Collect data and maintain records related to energy, water, chemicals, and waste streams.
  • Coordinate recycling and waste minimization programs.
  • Lead investigations of environmental incidents and assist with corrective actions.
  • Stay current on applicable environmental regulations and industry best practice.
  • Develop and deploy environmental awareness and training programs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing environmental performance.
  • Ensure compliance with Magna Environmental Principles.
  • Participate in corporate environmental audits and drive corrective actions.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets and participate in Chemical Approval Process.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and perform other duties as required.
