Job summary

Clay County's Environmental Services seeks an ECC Coordinator to manage daily solid waste and recycling operations, including collection, sorting, loading and transport of materials at Rosemary Hill and ECC facilities. This role oversees equipment use and supports customer service to the public and waste haulers.

Requires a high school diploma and experience with waste-management equipment; valid Florida driver’s license with clean record.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience with forklift, articulated loader or other waste management equipment (Preferred).
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts equipment operational checks and performs light maintenance on Department machinery and equipment in use in assigned area of responsibility at Rosemary Hill or the ECC, including removal of debris from compactor ram mechanisms and general site maintenance
  • Provides customer service to patrons using County Environmental Services Facilities (i.e., general public and waste haulers)
  • Operates County vehicle to collect waste and recyclable materials from various collection locations served by the Department
  • Reports needed repairs, services and other operational requirements to immediate supervisor
  • Performs a variety of tasks in support of the daily operation of the County’s waste and recycling facilities (Rosemary Hill and ECC), maintains general work area and site in generally clean, orderly and litter-free condition (i.e., ramps, floors, grounds and buildings)
  • Assists supervisors in the preparation of records and reports of various activities as assigned
  • Performs general custodial tasks including maintenance of custodial areas and supplies, general cleaning and refuse disposal of interior areas (i.e., floors, walls, windows, restrooms, kitchens, equipment, furnishings, vehicles, etc.)
  • Conducts routine patrols of the Rosemary Hill Facility drive areas with a collection magnet and logs all such patrols
  • Complies with all regulations and policies, including those pertaining to safety
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Environmental Convenience Center (ECC) Supervisor, the Environmental Convenience Center (ECC) Coordinator performs the day-to-day operations of the County’s solid waste and recycling program, including the collection, sorting, storage, loading and transportation of materials. Operates equipment and machinery at Department facilities. May be assigned responsibility for daily activities, including receipt and removal of waste and recyclables, at any of the County’s solid waste and recycling facilities, i.e., Rosemary Hill Solid Waste Management Facility and Environmental Convenience Centers.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous experience with forklift, articulated loader or other waste management equipment (Preferred)
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Any combination of education and experience may be substituted, so long as it provides the desired skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job

Working Environment and Physical Demands

Must be able to move about regularly within and outside the office environment, including over uneven and/or steep natural surfaces, to access staff, productivity equipment, and to facilitate customer disposal of solid waste.

This position frequently communicates with managers and the public to facilitate waste collection and disposal. Must be able to accurately convey and perceive information in these situations.

Must be able to perceive, inspect, and assess data and to perform accurate tracking of information and completion of required documentation.

Must regularly move objects up to 25 pounds, frequently move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move objects up to 100 pounds.

Regularly works in an indoor environment with risk of exposure to dust and in an outdoor environment risking exposure extreme temperatures, excessive humidity, inclement weather, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

The noise level is usually moderate but may be loud at times.
