Job summary

Environmental Control Technician (ECT) at Anglian Water in Lincoln will monitor environmental risks around the clock, assess incidents, and drive mitigation to protect the environment and community. You will work with Operational Control Managers and Environmental Protection Technicians to triage alerts and manage events in a high-pressure, 24/7 environment.

The role requires proactive individuals with a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, capable of coordinating across stakeholders,

Qualifications

  • Experience in environmental risk management and pollution monitoring.
  • Ability to operate in a 24/7 control room environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and risk assessment skills under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Own events through to resolution and update regulatory agencies.

What will you be doing?

As an Environmental Control Technician, you will be at the forefront of environmental risk management,operatingwithin our 24/7 control room. Your mission: protect the environment by monitoring, assessing, and managing potential pollution events, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving positive outcomes for both the company and the community.

You will work closely with Operational Control Managers and Environmental Protection Technicians to:

  • Riskassessand triage environmental alerts.

  • Implement mitigation solutions to manage pollution risks.

  • Maintain ongoing ownership of events until resolution.

  • Escalate issues as necessary while keeping regulatory agencies updated.

  • Liase with a range of internal and external stakeholders during pressured events

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and assess potential pollution events,identifymitigation strategies, and deployappropriate resources.

  • Capture evidence of environmental impact and mitigation efficacy.

  • Ensuretimelycommunicationand reportstothe Environment Agency (EA).

  • Manage out-of-hours (OOH) mailboxes and prioritize tasks accordingly.

  • Coordinatetankeringand jetting operations(OOH).

  • Support compliance failure risk management(OOH).

  • Conduct early detection and triage of environmental alerts during OOH periods.

  • Update risk management systems andmaintainaccuraterecords.

  • Assist ETTs and OCMs with their workloads and provide support during incident management.

What skills & experience do I need to be successful?

Weseekproactive, detail-oriented individuals with:

  • A strong commitment to environmental stewardship.

  • Excellent problem-solving and risk-assessment skills in pressured environments.

  • Ability to work effectively in a 24/7 shift patternincluding standby shifts.

  • Strong communicationand coordination abilities.
