We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience working for an environmental consulting firm or other applicable environmental sector. They will be a self-motivated, career-oriented engineer/scientist with a good understanding of chemistry/geology, have experience in environmental site assessments, groundwater monitoring and reporting, remediation technologies, and have remediation project design, field implementation, and oversight experience. The candidate will be mentored to become an industry-leading environmental remediation professional.

The position has significant growth potential as the selected candidate will work directly with and be mentored by nationally recognized environmental remediation engineers and geologists supporting in-situ chlorinated hydrocarbon remediation projects for large Brownfield redevelopment and industrial manufacturing companies in Connecticut, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, New Jersey, and California.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct groundwater, surface water, and soil sampling.
  • Perform lithologic and geophysical logging of geotechnical boreholes.
  • Oversee monitor well, gas probe, and other compliance monitoring and remediation system installations.
  • Conduct statistical analysis on groundwater monitoring data.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of geologic and hydrogeologic investigations and evaluations.
  • Implement and manage site assessments (Geoprobe, HSA drilling, geological logging).
  • Interact with clients and participate in regulatory meetings in a support role.
  • Organize and manage field sampling efforts, manage large amounts of laboratory data, analyze information, and prepare semi-annual reports.
  • Apply technical and critical thinking skills to meet project demands and solve problems for our clients.
  • Design and implement site characterization activities.
  • Remediation design and implementation (installation, operation, maintenance, and monitoring) of some or all of the following remedial technologies: soil vapor extraction (SVE), in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO), enhanced reductive dechlorination (ERD), Carbon Trap and Treat BOS-100/200.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and superiors.
  • Support senior staff as needed to complete tasks. This often includes work in excess of 40 hours per week.
Requirements
  • BS or MS in Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, or related field with at least 3-5 years of professional experience in discipline.
  • Detail oriented and timely in completing assignments and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Ability to balance personal and project workloads and schedules for multiple projects.
  • Works well as an independent but accountable team member.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in MS Office.
  • Working understanding of ArcGIS, Google Earth, and/or AutoCAD preferred.
  • EIT, PE, or RG/PG certification or have the necessary experience to obtain certification.

The position is a salaried position with significant bonus opportunity and the work hours are flexible targeting 45 hours per week, working approximately 40-50% in the field. Typical salary range for this position is $65,000 to $90,000 and is commensurate with experience relative to the position. The position will require out-of-town travel at an average rate of one week a month. The successful candidate must demonstrate efficiency and competency working well in an independent / telecommuting environment.
