Why This Role Matters?

Environmental remediation is critical to protecting communities, ecosystems, and future development. This role directly supports ERM’s mission to deliver innovative, science‑based solutions at complex contaminated sites. As a Consulting Associate, your contributions help translate engineering concepts into practical, client‑ready solutions—bridging design, fieldwork, and collaboration across disciplines.

What Your Impact Is:
  • Support the design and execution of remediation systems for groundwater, sediment, soil, and vapor at active and inactive sites
  • Apply in‑situ and ex‑situ remediation technologies, from emerging approaches to traditional treatment systems
  • Contribute to technically rigorous projects for large industrial and global clients, gaining exposure across project lifecycles
  • Build a strong foundation in consulting, field execution, and client interaction early in your career
What You’ll Bring:
  • Curiosity, accountability, and a desire to learn through hands‑on experience
  • Comfortable balancing office‑based technical work with field assignments and collaborating with diverse teams
  • Take pride in delivering quality work, staying organized, and communicating clearly—whether onsite, in the office, or with clients and regulators
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering with a minimum GPA of 3.0, or 8 years of equivalent experience in lieu of education
  • Recent graduate to 2 years of relevant experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel (~75% regional travel with multiple overnight stays; ~25% office work)
  • Strong writing, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently and multitask
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Detail‑oriented and thorough approach to work
  • Driver’s license required: a valid license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle due to frequent travel to client locations
  • Local candidates preferred
  • Position not eligible for immigration sponsorship
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline
  • Environmental fieldwork experience
  • 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
  • Understanding of civil/geotechnical engineering design, including:
    • Geosynthetics
    • Stormwater management design
    • Roadway design
    • Erosion and sediment control design
    • Grading and landfill closure design
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and earthworks computations
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with engineering design for process and civil remediation projects involving contaminated soil and groundwater
  • Evaluate remedial technologies for applicability at site‑specific conditions
  • Support remediation construction design, including design calculations, drawings, bid packages, engineering cost estimates, technical specifications, and support plans
  • Provide field support during construction oversight and deliver Construction Quality Assurance (CQA)
  • Perform monitoring, operation, and maintenance of groundwater remediation systems, soil vapor extraction systems, sub‑slab depressurization systems, and other remediation technologies
  • Conduct fieldwork such as remedial pilot tests, quality assurance activities, and construction oversight
  • Provide office and field oversight of contractors, subcontractors, and construction inspectors
  • Manage work within quality, budget, schedule, and scope expectations
  • Communicate with clients, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and site contacts
  • Collaborate with ERM offices worldwide to support proposal development and project coordination
