Job summary

The State of Georgia, Department of Natural Resources, Environmental Protection Division, Watershed Compliance Program, Watershed Compliance Unit in Atlanta, seeks an Environmental Compliance Specialist 1/2/3 to support drinking water rule programs and protect public health.

The incumbent will monitor water systems for compliance using SDWIS, coordinate enforcement when needed, and communicate technical information to regulated communities and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, geology, engineering, or related field.
• Experience with state and federal drinking water rules is preferred.
• Experience in environmental compliance or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage one or more Safe Drinking Water Act rules and compliance programs.
• Use the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) to monitor and determine water systems' compliance with rules.
• Initiate enforcement actions for violations and follow up to ensure compliance.
• Provide technical information to regulated communities and the general public as needed.
