Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to coordinate environmental compliance programs, permits, and corporate policies within assigned regions and project scopes.

The role involves providing training, guidance, and support to leadership and staff on applicable requirements, and coordinating with internal teams, Environmental Services, contractors, and external parties to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the physical sciences (biology, chemistry, geology, physical science, etc.).
• Minimum of 2 years of environmental experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Travel 20%–40% with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain environmental activities in the T&D regions to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Provide training and assistance to employees on environmental program requirements.
• Assist in oil/chemical spill response, including agency notifications and follow-up reports.
• Conduct environmental reviews of disposal contractors and related facilities.
• Promote safe work practices to safeguard employees, contractors, public, and facilities.
• Oversee environmental site inspections and Phase I/II assessments.
• Respond to public inquiries regarding environmental matters.
