Job Description

The Environmental Compliance Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting our environmental compliance programs. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all activities at our facilities adhere to Federal, State, and local rules and regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in environmental compliance within the oil and gas industry, strong problem-solving skills, and a dedication to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Monitor and enforce compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including air, water, waste, and land management requirements.
  2. Conduct audits, inspections, and assessments to identify areas for improvement of existing permits.
  3. Assist with review and filing of required environmental permits, reports, and documentation accurately on a quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis.
  4. Collaborate with operations and production teams to implement environmental best practices and improve sustainability efforts.
  5. Conduct training sessions for employees to increase awareness of environmental compliance obligations, sample collection processes, and safe practices.
  6. Respond to and investigate environmental incidents or non-compliance events, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  7. Track and report on environmental performance metrics to senior management and regulatory agencies as needed.
  8. Stay updated on new regulations, industry trends, and technological advancements in environmental compliance.
  9. Assist with management's review and comments regarding State and Federal rulemaking processes.
Other Job Responsibilities:
  1. Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
  2. Maintain employee confidence and protect company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  3. Ability to accurately solve problems and demonstrate proficiency in data management.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  5. Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: CPEA, CEM, or REM.
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner.
  3. Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
