Job summary

Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma seeks an Environmental Compliance Specialist to coordinate reviews and independently perform environmental work to support tribal protection and resource management goals. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field, NEPA experience, and five years in environmental compliance.

You will operate Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm, collaborating with tribal departments and regulators to ensure regulatory alignment and successful project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.
• Environmental certification(s) or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Experience supporting or leading NEPA environmental review processes, including assessments, inspections, and permitting activities.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring or training staff.
• Experience with grant-funded programs, environmental reporting, or regulatory compliance activities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Five (5) years of experience in environmental compliance, regulatory programs, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate environmental reviews, assessments, and permitting for assigned projects.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, tribal, and TEPA requirements; conduct inspections and documentation.
• Prepare environmental reports, permit applications, mitigation measures, and regulatory documents.
• Coordinate with tribal departments, contractors, and regulators on environmental projects.
• Conduct sampling, inspections, investigations, and monitoring activities.
• Provide environmental guidance and technical assistance to internal stakeholders.
• Collect, analyze, validate, and report environmental data per QA standards.
• Maintain accurate records, permits, and documentation; assist with grant reporting and outreach.
