Job summary

Clean Harbors is seeking a Manager Environmental Compliance Programs to oversee day-to-day compliance and regulatory functions across our environmental and health/safety operations. The role focuses on ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations, leading audits, and maintaining regulatory systems.

Ideal candidates have a BS/BA in Environmental Science or Engineering and 5+ years in compliance. Based at a company location, you will interact with field staff, management, and regulatory

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Environmental Science or Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years of compliance/company experience.
• Knowledge of DOT and EPA laws/regulations is required.
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies and acting safely.
• Conducts formal reviews of company systems to ensure environmental and health/safety compliance.
• Identifies problems and recommends corrections; follows up on non-compliance.
• Advises field staff on measures to correct or minimize non-compliant activities.
• Prepares reports for regulatory agencies and management.
• Maintains internal regulatory ID validation systems.
• Manages USEPA registrations and manifests documentation.
• Responds to inquiries about regulations from compliance, sales, field personnel and customers.
• Performs audits of internal and external facilities to ensure program effectiveness.
• Performs other assignments as needed by management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner always.
• Conducts formal and systematic reviews of company systems to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations for environmental affairs and health and safety.
• Identifies problems and recommends corrections; priorities and conducts follow-ups on corrections regarding areas of non-compliance or potential non-compliance.
• Advises field staff regarding procedural and operational measures to be taken to correct or minimize non-compliant activities about environmental regulations.
• Prepares reports and documents as required by regulatory agencies and corporate and facility management.
• Maintains and manages the internal regulatory ID validation systems
• Maintains compliance with our USEPA registration to produce SKS manifests, manages shipment document forms inventory at multiple locations
• Provides responses to compliance, sales, field personnel and customers concerning federal, state and local environmental regulations.
• Performs audits of internal and external facilities to ensure effectiveness of compliance programs.
• Perform other assignments as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

• BS/BA in Environmental Science or Engineering preferred
• 5+ Years of compliance/company experience
• Alternate combinations of education and experience may be accepted
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) laws/regulations (required)
• Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent PC Skills / MS Office
• Must be based at a company location - either corporate office or branch location (SK, BPS, TFI, CYN, EM etc.)
